Anonymous asked: what is your motivation when it comes to writing?

I’m trying to decide if I even have “motivation” anymore. I don’t even write regularly. I mean I do—between this blog and journal entries and poetry when I don’t know what else to say or post—but I do those things out of a sort of inner desperation. And if I’m writing something I’m really excited about or proud of, my motivation is being able to take the finished product and say, “Hey! Look at this! I wrote it and I’d like you to read it!”

I use writing as an escape and as a way to explore different ideas. When someone says something interesting, I write it down for future reference even if I disagree with what they’re expressing. When I come across weird disorders or unusual events that are happening now or have happened, I take note. I keep record of these things to later turn around and morph into something that’ll be interesting and thought-provoking.

My biggest hope for my writing is that it enlightens, entertains, and evokes feeling from the reader.
